While in lockdown in 2020, one of my assignments was to create a series of images expressing the concept of duality. I drew on my experience in German music and literature to explore the concept of the Doppelgänger, or “ghostly double” (though the concept is an ancient one); metamorphoses that occur naturally in nature as well as in music and literature; and the circle of life – in itself a dualistic dance of life and death.
